I make prayer beautiful for a living—which is a strange sentence to write. So let me explain.

For thirty years I worked in my family's business, Sonlight Curriculum—reviewing books, writing copy, learning to say things plainly. Along the way I started a farm (and, four years later, gave it back). I fostered a distant cousin through the hardest seven years of my life. I earned a homeopathy certificate—and then, driving to mail in my final exam, I heard God say, “Start a prayer challenge.”
So I did. About four thousand people have been through it since.
That challenge became a daily email. The email became a podcast—Make Prayer Beautiful, now past sixteen hundred episodes and more than a million words. The podcast became Makarios Press, where I've written close to eighty books. And in 2020 it became Workplace Prayer: a company where Bob Perry and I pray over businesses, by name, every day.
The through-line is simple. Most of us were told to talk to God—but never taught how. I think you're already better at prayer than you've been led to believe. I've spent years building the books, the emails, and the tools to prove it.
Ask me about homeschooling, homeopathy, poetry, or the four and a half years my family of six lived in 228 square feet.
